The Yakima StepUp 2-Bike Wheel-Mount Platform Rack is a streamlined platform hitch rack for 2-inch receivers, designed for high-capacity transport without excessive bulk. It carries two bikes up to 65 pounds each on paved roads, making it a primary choice for e-bikes, mountain, and fat-tire models. This 130-pound total capacity ensures stability during daily commutes or extended travel, while the compact profile maintains a clean aesthetic behind the vehicle.
Loading is focused on frame protection. The StrongArm hook anchors the front tire to ensure zero contact with paint or carbon fiber finishes. To prevent mechanical interference, StadiumSeating architecture tiers the trays for improved ground clearance and handlebar spacing. Optional offset positions allow for further fine-tuning of the bike-to-bike fit, while the flip-away rear wheel strap facilitates faster unloading.
For vehicle access, a remote 3-position tilt lowers the rack to clear the trunk even when fully loaded and folds flat when not in use. Installation utilizes an Allen-driven SpeedWedge system for a rattle-free connection. The rack supports 16-inch to 29-inch wheels, tires up to 4.5 inches wide, and wheelbases from 32 to 52 inches. Security is integrated via SKS locks, a HitchLock, and a locking cable, with a built-in bottle opener included for utility.
